NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- It took Stephen Owens two decades to forgive his mother for the role she played in his father's murder.
In 1986, Gaile Owens was convicted of hiring a hit-man to kill her husband and sentenced to death.
For years afterward Stephen wanted nothing to do with her. But after the birth of his first son, Stephen began to reconsider his relationship with the only parent he had left.
It took him years to move past his anger and resentment. But he feels God was leading him to the day in 2009 when he visited Gaile in prison and said "I forgive you."
With his new book, "Set Free," Stephen hopes to help others discover the peace that came to him with forgiveness.
