KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Just before 7:00 this morning, Knoxville Fire Department crews were dispatched to the 2000 block of Sam Houston Street in South Knoxville for report of a house fire.
When firefighters arrived, they found a one-story block house with fire shooting through a front bedroom window. The two adult occupants had already exited the structure, saying no one else was inside.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, successfully limiting the fire damage to the front bedroom. Heat and smoke damage occurred throughout the home.
Residents reported the fire had broken out near an oxygen-fed sleeping aid in the bedroom where the woman was sleeping. The woman did receive minor burns to her chest and leg but refused transport from the medical crew on scene.
The American Red Cross will assist the family, and fire investigators are on the scene to determine the cause.
