GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The first big spring break weekend in the Smokies was a hit according to businesses in Sevier County.
"Beautiful weather brings people out. you want to get out, it's been such a long and cold winter, and I think people are ready to get outside," said Marci Claude with the Gatlinburg Convention and Visitors Bureau. "Our feeder markets, within a 5 hour drive, it's their spring break all of April and they are booking their vacations in Gatlinburg."
The Smokies say the next few weeks are going to be big also. Gatlinburg plans new events to entertain guests and businesses have new attractions.
"We have at least 2 dozen special events going on in April for families, for adults, for people just looking to get out and do something special while they're on vacation. Lots of fun things to do," said Claude.
