KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Road crews spent Monday preparing the roads for the wintry weather ahead.
Despite a rainy forecast, T-DOT officials pre-treated some of the busiest roads in the area just in case.
"We think it's worth the peace of mind," said TDOT Maintenance Engineer Bud Slaton.
Slaton told Local 8 News this is the first time this season they brine the roads in Knox County.
It's really a good night to go over all of our equipment and make sure everything we haven't used in the last 9 months is in good working order," he said.
Slaton will spent most of his night updating the roadway conditions on T-DOT's Smart Way App.
Knox County Highway Department also has crews on standby overnight Tuesday.
