KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Commuters who normally take Lyons View Pike are going to have to find another way to work starting Monday. That's when the Knoxville Utilities Board will shut down a mile and a half stretch of the road so workers can upgrade gas, water, and sewer lines.
The closure is expected to last until November with crews working seven days a week. Earlier this month, KUB installed message boards along the road, warning drivers of the impending road closures and project dates.
To help regulate traffic on Lyons View Pike, uniformed officers will be stationed around the the clock at each end of the project. Local traffic will still be allowed through.
Barricades will also block access from three side streets, Arrowhead Trail, Colony Way, and Harley Drive. Each of those side roads will reopen once the rolling construction project moves past that section of Lyons View Pike.
KUB will post regular updates throughout the project on its website at www.kub.org, the KUB Facebook page, and via recorded messages on the dedicated project hotline at 558-2330. Additionally, KUB
has set up a blog at lyonsviewpikeproject.blogspot.com to keep customers informed about project milestones.
