KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- According to Knoxville police, an attempted robbery occurred at the Dollar General store located at the 4000 block of Chapman Highway Sunday morning.
It occurred at about 9:30 a.m.
A white male entered the business and asked a customer where the clerk was. He was then directed to the manager, who was stocking shelves.
The suspect told the manager to open the safe and the manager refused. The suspect then told him he had a knife, to which the manager replied he had a bigger knife and put his hand in his pocket.
The suspect then fled from the business toward downtown. Nothing was taken from the business.
The suspect was wearing a dark hoodie, dark jeans, bright white tennis shoes and a ski mask.
