LOCAL 8 WEATHER ALERT: We have at least several inches of snow on the ground across East Tennessee. While the widespread snowfall stopped in the middle of the night, spotty snow showers to drizzle are possible at times today. Roads that have not been plowed and/or treated, make driving difficult.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a Sweetwater man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Sunday morning at about 3 a.m. on I-75 near mile marker 75.
39-year-old Gregory Collette was traveling southbound in his 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe when he veered toward the left side of the roadway and into the median. He struck a guardrail, causing the vehicle to flip on its side. It slid on its side into a bridge embankment where it came to a rest.
The reporting officer indicated he thought drinking may have been involved.
Gregory was wearing a seatbelt.
