KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A TDOT maintenance worker is in serious condition after he was hit by a car in a work zone along State Route 34 in Jefferson Co. Wednesday afternoon, according to TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi.
Nagi said the Josh Chesney was airlifted to UT Medical Center. The 34 year-old Knoxville man reportedly suffered a broken arm, a broken leg, a cracked pelvis, and a fractured skull. He had surgery on his arm Wednesday night and, at last update, is in serious condition.
Chesey was hit around 2:00 p.m. near the railroad bridge at Mile Marker 16, Nagi explained. He said one car apparently rear-ended another vehicle and that car ricocheted into the work zone.
