It's the biggest step yet to creating a real Rocky Top, Tennessee. Local 8 news was the first first to tell you about the proposed name change striking out Lake City and renaming the Anderson County town Rocky Top.
The Tennessee house voted by an overwhelming margin to approve the name change 89 - 0. Three people there didn't vote.
Before it passed, Representative Joe Armstrong of Knoxville expressed concerns about the change. He said he thinks Rocky Top is a whole area, not one town.
Another representative asked about the pending lawsuit from the people who wrote the song "Rocky Top", but were reassured the state would have no liability in the lawsuit.
The house passed it and now it heads to the senate for a vote.
Lake City Middle Schoolers were in Nashville to support the bill.
