KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Local law enforcement agencies hosted a fun event that was all about the kids.
Children and parents were invited to come out to Lexus of Knoxville this afternoon and meet their friendly officers. They also gave the kids an inside look at what they do.
The Knox County Sheriff's Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and even the Bomb Squad were a few of the departments that came.
For the past few months, Lexus of Knoxville and B-97.5 have been helping to collect stuffed animals to give to children in times of crisis, and to show that the law is on their side.
"Where you take the child out of its normal environment, a change has taken place in his life. To give it something that it's familiar with, such as one of these care bears," said Lt. Larry Cash from the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
In all, more than 4,000 teddy bears were donated, and are going in the trunks of different agencies across the area, to hand out to kids.
