NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Crime continued its downward trend, according to the TBI's latest "Crime in Tennessee." The annual survey found Group A offenses were down 2.8% last year and 3.5% overall since 2010.
Not all of the news was good, though. Murders were up for the second year in a row, ticking up a point and a half, while the number of Aggravated Assault offenses jumped almost 8%. Overall, though, crimes against persons decreased nearly 1%.
Crimes against property showed the biggest drop at 5.8% over 2011. On the other hand, crimes against society increased over 6%.
Juveniles only comprised 8.2% of all arrests, down 15% since 2010.
