Thousands lose power due to cold snap

BLOUNT CO. Tenn, (WVLT)-- About 7,500 people were without power in Blount County, Saturday morning.

Alcoa Electric says the Wildwood substation went out at about 8:00 a.m. due to the drop in temperatures.

As of 11:30 most customers had their power restored.

The company says crews will be on high alert as temperatures are expected to plummet over the weekend.
