KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- After months of waiting, Knoxville has a new hotspot to dine at on Market Square.
Tupelo Honey Cafe opened it's doors on Monday. The general manager tells Local 8 News that around 60 people had gathered outside before the first meal was served. He even says the first customers began clapping.
The business aims to please with it's own take on a Southern meal. But it's not just the taste buds that are enjoying the arrival.
David Dowell says, "I hired about ninety people. And when I first started doing it, I thought, Oh my God. What a daunting task to call 90 people. There's worse things to do than to call 90 people and offer them a job."
