2 arrested for burglary and could be connected to at least 20 others

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says they caught two Knoxville men in the act of burglarizing a West Knox County office early Friday morning.

Detectives believe the two suspects may be connected to at least 20 others in the county. Undercover officers say they watched a vehicle drive into the parking lot at 224 South Peters Road, Suite 106 shortly after midnight and then drive out a short time later.

Dispatch was notified of an alarm going on at the business. Officers responded and confirmed forced entry to the front door and that a burglary had occurred. Officers then stopped the suspects’ vehicle on Gleason Drive at Gallaher View. They say they found a crow bar, pry bar and items taken from the business.

The suspects arrested were Kenneth Carl Loveday, Jr. and Jason Boyd Leffew, both 42 years old and from Knoxville. They were charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools. Loveday was also charged with the burglary on March17th of VG’s Bakery at 11552 Kingston Pike. He admitted to breaking into the business by prying open the back door and looking for cash. Both suspects have criminal histories involving burglary and theft.

Detectives believe the two suspects are connected to at least 20 business burglaries that have occurred in the Farragut, Cedar Bluff, and Karns areas since February 12th. The burglaries have been at strip malls, office complexes, a warehouse, and a golf course. Most of the burglaries were committed by prying open the back door.
