SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Two families were left homeless Tuesday morning after a fire destroyed their mobile home.

The fire broke out just after 4:00 a.m. on the 500 block of Parton Hollow Rd. in Sevierville.

"As soon as they were out and opened the door, oxygen got to the fire and it swept through the trailer," said Red Cross Volunteer Glen Studinger who assisted the families.

He told Local 8 News one of the family members inside the home was watching tv when he noticed smoke then flames. That's when he quickly worked to get everyone out.

"They had no chance to get any identification, medication, nothing at all," Studinger said.

With the help of Red Cross volunteers, the two families, including eight children ages 3 to 16, will be staying at a local hotel for the next few days.

Anyone interested in helping the families can donate to the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
