CLINTON, Tenn. (WVLT) - Two men in Clinton became trapped under a van after strong winds damaged the garage where they were working.
It happened at Passtime Garage on Main Street.
Witnesses say the storm came out of nowhere.
Russell Tilley imagined the worst when he heard his car repair shop came down.
"My son and another guy was under the van when it hit."
"The beam just missed him and this column just missed him. I don't know how."
Across the city, trees toppled power lines and laid across yards and roads.
Kenny Ambrose watched as giant oaks snapped and fell around his house.
"You always see other people that has this problem but we've never had this problem here, even with these big trees and the ind blowing. This time it kind of got us," Ambrose explained. "The wind was a blowing. You could see the trees a swaying and limbs a popping and cracking."
Power lines are dangling, street lights are out, businesses had to shut down. But at the end of the day
"It's just unbelievable I don't know what else to say."
"Nobody's hurt bad, that's all I care about."
The two guys who were under the van were taken to the hospital but we're told both are just fine, nothing more than some bruises and scrapes.
