KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a Tellico Plains man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Monroe County on Saturday night.
It occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on the 500 block of Fairview Road.
THP said 36-year-old James R. Cheek of Tellico Plains was driving eastbound on Fairview Road. Cheek was not wearing a seat belt and was killed in the wreck.
William A. Roach, 61, of Tellico Plains, was driving westbound on Fairview Road.
Cheek did not drive a curve tightly enough in his Toyota Camry, veering into the opposing lane. Roach, coming in the opposite direction, attempted to avoid him but hit Cheek head-on.
Cheek continued to veer into the oncoming traffic lane after contact with Roach.
Roach was not hurt.
No criminal charges are pending.
