MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The United Methodist women are speaking out Monday in an event in Downtown Maryville to raise awareness about violence toward women and children.
The Maryville District of the United Methodist Women host the event at 6 p.m. Monday in the Broadway United Methodist Church in downtown Maryville.
Speakers from the Blount County District Attorney's Office and the Family Justice Center in Knoxville will talk about the impact of domestic abuse and facing domestic violence victims in East Tennessee.
The United Methodist Women ask for a $5 donation at the door to help them in their mission work.
They're also accepting old cell phones and gently used bras to help women escaping abuse and violence.
