KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- U.S. Cellular associates leads a tech day and announces a gift to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley, as part of the company’s Better Day program.
The "Band of Better" team showed the kids three different educational apps and let them explore. Afterwards, they turned in the tablets only to find out that all 10 tablets were going to be donated to the Boys and Girls Club's computer lab.
The tablet will give more kids a chance to explore technology in and out of the computer lab.
The club also received a $5,000 donation to use for other tablets at the club.
U.S. Cellular launched the Better Day program in 15 cities across the country this month to enhance summer and provide residents with unique experiences at their favorite local businesses, community parks, festivals and fairs.
U.S. Cellular’s “Band of Better” team, the company’s community outreach ambassadors, are surprising residents with giveaways and other items to help them enjoy summer to its fullest.
To celebrate a successful learning session and the donation by U.S. Cellular, associates, the Band of Better team and Boys and Girls Club members will enjoy an ice cream social with outside activities, including a whiffle ball game, bubbles and sidewalk chalk.
