US education secretary to deliver address at UT

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan will deliver a lecture next month at the University of Tennessee.

Duncan will give the second Baker Distinguished Lecture on April 3 in the University Center Auditorium.

Duncan has served as education secretary since January 2009, when the Senate confirmed his nomination by President Barack Obama.

The lecture will be presented by the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy, SunTrust Foundation, Knoxville News Sentinel and WUOT radio. It is open to the public at no charge.

Baker Center Director Matt Murray said Duncan is in the forefront of implementing Obama administration educational programs that greatly benefit Tennessee.
