KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Folks gathered in a somber place on Friday to remember live lost and honor those who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
The American Legion, Post 2, sponsored the service where three living survivors from Pearl Harbor were in attendance.
Folks said they gathered on Friday to remember those men and women, living and dead, who became the first to fight and first to die in that war. By the end of the day, about 3,000, had been killed.
Cynthia L. Tinker from the University of Tennessee Center for the Study of War and Society made a special presentation. The event was held at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
