KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The University of Tennessee is pushing back its application deadlines for the Fall 2014 semester. On Tuesday, university officials said prospective students now have until December 15th to apply.
Anyone wanting to be considered for competitive scholarships and the Chancellor's Honors Program must get their applications submitted before the Early-Action Deadline - November 15.
Officials said they decided to push back the deadline because of technical issues with the Common Application, a service which allows students to apply to multiple universities at the same time.
Students who used the non-profit service and received an acknowledgement of their application to UT should not need to re-apply. Officials warned that would only bog down the system.
School officials also pointed out two other major deadlines for parents and students to keep in mind:
Feb. 1—Filing deadline for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Applying for admission and completing the FAFSA form is all students need to do to be eligible for the state's HOPE Scholarship, UT's Pledge scholarship and many federal and state grants.
May 1—Deadline for admitted students to confirm their attendance by paying a nonrefundable enrollment deposit of $250.
