KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The University of Tennessee acknowledged seven minor violations of NCAA bylaws. In reports sent to SEC Commissioner Mike Slive, several compliance officers listed of the violations along with corrective actions taken by the University.
Most incidents involved minor recruiting infractions, such as electronic transmissions or other contact with prospective student-athletes.
Associate Swimming Coach Tyler Fenwick was cited after he agreed to write an article for Swimming World Magazine's "Ask a Coach" column in October of last year without notifying the compliance department.
Even though, the university noted people who submit questions did not need to give personal information, when one high school student revealed he was a junior, he gave personal information.
The university's compliance office determined it violated NCAA codes after the article was published, forbidding use of media when recruiting a student.
