United Way closes campaign with more donations than last

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The United Way of Knoxville says they have ended their 2012 campaign with more donations than last year.

The campaign ended with total of $11,704,393 which is an increase of $83,000 over last year.

“I am thrilled that our long-time donors continued to support us and new donors chose United Way as their way to give back. With $11,704,393, we are able to continue the good work that we are doing in Greater Knoxville. This money will be used to improve the lives of people in our community and help them achieve self sufficiency,” said Joe Landsman, Campaign Chair.

Landsman said the money will be used to make a difference for people in the Knoxville area.

Donations raised during United Way campaigns are used to fund community programs that support our three main focus area of education, health & basic needs and income & basic needs.
