PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- United way in Sevier County has kicked off a new fundraising campaign after getting reorganized.
Tuesday, United Way held a kickoff party for the year of raising money for groups in Sevier County. The United Way has a new director and a goal of $400,000.
"I mean everybody works together, and everybody's come together. We really want United Way to work and really help our community partners," said Amy Harper, Executive Director.
In September of last year, the United Way board released a statement saying they would have no choice but to close the doors. The statement says a lack of community support lead to the decision.
Now after community support, the group will stay open and a new board will oversee the organization.
