Crimetracker: Murder suspect in north Knoxville shooting captured

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Police have arrested the suspect they think shot and killed a north Knoxville man late Wednesday night.

Forty-seven year-old James Hudgins, of Knoxville, was arrested without incident Thursday morning, according to the Knoxville Police Dept. He was wanted for first degree murder.

Larry Joe Turner, II, was found dead on the front porch of a home on Churchwell Ave. Turner was dead when officers arrived shortly after 11:00 p.m. He was shot several times, police said.

According to their preliminary investigation, the incident stemmed from a domestic altercation. Investigators have talked to several witnesses, the KPD spokesman said.

Turner's body has been taken for autopsy to determine how many times he was shot.

"I'm shocked but not really shocked because the neighborhood is going down, I am sorry for the people it happened to," said Ronda Knuckles.
