Vol fans say rivalry with Kentucky alive and well

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- The chilly weather and a pair of lackluster seasons didn't dampen the spirit of the rivalry between the Big Orange and Big Blue.

Fans say despite the turmoil both UT and Kentucky's programs have faced this year, including no post season trip for either school, it's important to stand by your team.

And the support showed. More than 81 thousand people showed up for both team's season finale.

Even outside of Neyland Stadium, there was plenty of Volunteer and Wildcat pride. Many folks were decked out in orange and blue. Even one tailgater, Jennifer Rand, showed off her unique tailgate. It included a Vol themed hearse.

Tara and Matt Burton both say they're glad fans showed up to give the seniors a good sendoff. But Matt says he wishes more folks showed up.

The Vol fans we spoke to say they're looking forward to a new season, and a new head coach.
