Vols QB Tyler Bray Named SEC Co-Offensive Player Of Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Vols junior quarterback Tyler Bray was named SEC Co-Offensive Player of Week on Monday. Bray set the Tennessee record for passing yards in a game with 530 as the Vols knocked off Troy, 55-48. Bray shared the award with Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray.
Bray's 530 passing yards are the second-most by an SEC quarterback in history, second only to Eric Zeier who threw for 544 for Georgia in 1993 against Southern Mississippi.
Bray was 29-of-47 with a career-high tying five touchdowns. Bray's five TDs are tied for the second-most in a game by a Vol. He connected with Justin Hunter on three of the scores.
In the fourth quarter, Bray was 9-of-17 for 175 yards and two touchdowns, bringing the Vols back from a 40-34 deficit.
Bray's 530 yards of total offense also set a Tennessee record and go down as the fourth-most by an SEC player in a game.
In the first half, Bray threw for a Tennessee school record 313 yards, besting his mark of 308 vs. Memphis set in his first start back in 2010.
The SEC Offensive Player of Week honor is the second for Bray, who also earned the award after his 405 passing yards vs. Cincinnati on Sept. 10, 2011.
It is the third SEC weekly honor for a Vol this season. Zach Fulton was named Offensive Lineman of the Week (Sept. 3) and Cordarrelle Patterson was Special Teams Player of the Week on Oct. 15.
