Wade the Emory River for tiny creatures on Sunday

WARTBURG, Tenn. (AP) -- Tiny creatures in streams can be an indicator of water quality and a visit to the Emory River will illustrate how.

The Obed Wild and Scenic River has its first Critters in the Creek program on Sunday, helping visitors search for macroinvertebrates. The event is good for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Wear water-friendly clothes and meet the ranger at noon at the Nemo Day Use area. The program is free and registration isn't required.

The park visitor center has information at (423) 346-6294.
