Walters State awarded more than $337K grant

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (AP) -- Walters State Community College in Morristown has been awarded a grant of more than $337,000.

Gov. Bill Haslam announced the grant this week. It will be used to fund equipment for an industrial skills and training program and an advanced welding program.

Currently, the college shares another school's welding training facility.

Lawmakers approved more than $16 million in this year's budget for equipment and technology related to workforce development programs at Tennessee colleges of applied technology and community colleges.
