MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Wartburg's Alex Fountain is this year's Mr. Basketball award winner for Class A.
Fountain, a 6’7” senior forward, started all four years for the Bulldogs, averaging 24.1 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.1 blocks, and 2.5 steals per game.
Fountain helped lead Wartburg to the Class A state semifinals.
He shot 54% from the field, 30% from three-point range, and 80% from the free throw line.
The Houston Baptist signee has been named the regular season District MVP twice and was named MVP of the Region tournament in 2012 and 2013.
He was an All-State selection and a finalist for the Mr. Basketball Award last year as well. Fountain scored over 2,000 points and has over 1,000 rebounds in his career at Wartburg Central.
