West Knoxville apartment complex evacuated due to fire

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Several people had to leave their apartments shortly after noon Sunday because of a fire.

The Knoxville Fire Department says it was called to Willows of West Hills Apartments on Arbor Trace because a renter noticed heavy black smoke coming from his laundry room.

When firefighters arrived, they say smoke was coming out of the caller's front door.

The damage was kept to the laundry room. The unit directly below also has smoke and minimal water damage.

No injuries were reported.

The cause is still under investigation.

We're told the tenant will find placement within the apartment complex.
