Western Ave. closure begins Monday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Drivers used to heading down Western Ave. may have to find another way around for the next two of weeks or so. On Monday, KUB plans to shut down the road from Keith Avenue to Richmond Ave. at 9:00 a.m. so it can work on its sewer system improvement project.

While Western Ave. will be closed to through traffic, the road will stay open for area businesses and emergency vehicles. Weather permitting, KUB expects the road to reopen on May 14th.

KUB has set up a a detour route along Texas Ave., Heiskell Ave., Johnston St., Tennessee Ave., and Schofield St. (see map above) and placed signs all along the route to direct traffic.

Information about this project and road closure will also be posted on the KUB website at www.kub.org and the KUB Facebook page. Customers may also call the KUB construction project hotline at 558-2330 to leave a message that will be responded to by a KUB representative by the end of the next business day.
