A LOCAL 8 WEATHER ALERT is in effect as rain showers change to snow showers tonight into Friday morning. While accumulation may be small or non-existent, (0 to 0.5 inches), where snow showers persist, it's expected to occur during the morning commute, which could slow down other drivers. Please take note. Winter Weather Advisories for the Smokies are in effect until Noon Friday for 1 to 3 inches of snow.
The annual Pancake Fest is underway at the O'Connor Senior Center in Knoxville. It started at 7 this morning and will go until 1 p.m. Several of our Local 8 News personalities will be there. The event benefits the Senior Center.
The East Tennessee Children's Hospital will unveil a $75 million dollar expansion project. The planned, 5 story building will add 245,000 square feet of new hospital space. A ground breaking is expected to happen this Summer and will take about two years to complete.
Restaurant Week kicks off tonight with a preview. It is happening from 5 until 6:30 p.m. at the Emporium Center. There will be a preview of the menu and samples offered. It is free to the public. Restaurant Wee will happen in March.
