WHITE PINE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- On Sunday morning, someone took off in Johnny Arwood's truck, and left his gate open. Neighbors told us that was the first clue that something was wrong, because Arwood always closed it. When no one saw him for the next day, his cousin went to check on him. That's when she said she saw his body, covered with a quilt.
The news of Arwood's death spread quickly across White Pine. People were stopping by his house all day Tuesday, trying to see if what they heard was true, getting nervous when they saw the caution tape.
"If you find out somebody was murdered, and if you knew the person, then how would I know it wouldn't happen to me," said Lorene "Red" Morgan, who lives in White Pine.
The sheriff's department isn't saying how Arwood died. They're looking for Charles "Randy" Kelley as a "person of interest." He'd been staying with Arwood and he's the man neighbors saw take off in Arwood's truck. Police haven't found Kelley or the truck. As they search, Arwood's cousin Corey Russell said he wants justice.
"He was a good guy. We all loved him, he was awesome. He was just a good person. He was funny to be around," Russell said.
The sheriff's department is waiting for autopsy results. They're asking anyone with information on Kelley's whereabouts to call them at (865) 397- 9411 ext. 1101, 1102, 1108 or TBI 1-800-TBI-FIND.
