KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- While many stores are closed on Christmas day; there are still some area businesses that stay open!
Christmas day is a time to open presents, visit with loved ones and stay at home. Right? Well that's not the case for some families who take advantage of open businesses like Shoney's on Western Avenue.
Bob Gibbs, the manager of Shoney's says they will be extremely busy from the time they open the doors at 8:00 a.m. to when they close at 7:00 p.m.
Those hours are great for people who have cooked enough this holiday season and are ready to get out of the house. Bob tells us, "We will have our Thanksgiving dinner buffet for $10.99. We will have baked ham, turkey and gravy, dressing and all the fixings."
Surprisingly, employees volunteer to work on Christmas Day. Bob says
"We do not force our employees to work on Christmas. We have several volunteer who want to work on Christmas."
December 25th also marks a busy day in the movie business with many families taking advantage of regular movie theater hours.
The Holiday Express at UT Gardens is also open from noon to 6:00 p.m. Along with Calhoun's from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Ray's ESG from 5:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
