A LOCAL 8 WEATHER ALERT has been issued for the accumulating snow in the Valley and Plateau, plus across the Smokies. Part of the Valley and Plateau could receive up to inch or more of snow, where snow bands persist. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Smokies until Noon Tuesday for another 2" or more of snow is possible. With temperatures dropping tonight into the upper 20s, black ice may be issue as well. Please be careful.

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Winterfest in Sevier County has been named to a must see holiday light show by travel writers in the US.
According to the Sevierville Chamber, the Society of American Travel Writers included Winterfest lights on its list of the Top 10 Lesser Known (But Just as Bright) Holiday lights in the US. Winterfest was listed 8th on the list.
According to the SATW, the light display includes snowflakes, rocking horses, waterfalls and much more and highlights how it lines the parkway leading into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Winterfest runs through February in Sevier County and features millions of lights from Sevierville to Gatlinburg.
