KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Woven of Wood: East Tennessee Baskets from 1880-1940 were initially created out of necessity to use in the homes and in the fields to pick the crops. They have evolved throughout the years as families have passed down their skills.
Now you can see them at the East Tennessee Historical Center, 601 S. Gay Street now through June 1st.
Live demonstrations will be done in the lobby of ETHC by Knoxville basket makers from the Foothills Craft Guild during the Dogwood Arts Festival Market Square Art Fair April 25-27. FCG and DAF are partners with the ETHC on this exhibit.
Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00 am-4:00 pm, Saturday 10:00 am-4:00 pm and Sunday, 1:00 pm-5:00 pm.
Admission: $5 Adults, $4 Seniors, Free for children under 16 and Sunday is Family Day which is free.
