KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The three activists accused of breaking into the Y-12 National Security Complex each face an additional charge stemming from the July 2012 incident.
On Tuesday, federal Grand Jury returned a superseding indictment against Michael Walli, Megan Rice, and Greg Boertje-Obed, adding the charge of aiding and abetting each other in injuring national defense premises, the Dept. of Justice announced early Wednesday. The Grand Jury also dropped a count of trespassing.
The new three-count indictment also contained two more charges carried over from the original August indictment: destroying property within the Y-12 National Security Complex and depredation against property of the United States in an amount exceeding $1,000.
The new count carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.
