COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities say a man killed himself in the basement of a Putnam County church after confronting his wife and sister-in-law.
Putnam County Sheriff David Andrews told The Associated Press that officials received a call around 9 a.m. Sunday about a shooting at the Double Springs Community Church in Cookeville.
Andrews said a man, who has not been identified, went to the church to confront his wife and sister-in-law in what he called a domestic dispute.
There was a struggle and the sister-in-law was shot. Andrews said the man then went to the basement of the church and apparently shot himself.
No one else was in the church.
Andrews said the wife was not harmed, but that the sister-in-law was being treated for her injuries.
Their names were not released.
