Updated: 01/08/2009 - Today, Alcoa shares fell the most in a month according to Bloomberg. This after Alcoa announced it will cut output and fire 13,500 workers. That means more than 400 people without a job in Alcoa, Tennessee. The Blount County Mayor says the job cuts will have a huge negative impact on his community. The mayor blames high TVA rates as one of the causes for shutting down the Alcoa pot lines. He says the impact will be devastating for the employees and the community.
