MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- A child is recovering after being struck by a car in Maryville.
It happened around 1:15 Sunday afternoon on Sweet Briar Drive.
Authorities tell us 77 year old Helga Deveau of Maryville was driving slowly down the street when 9 year old Nicholas Countess of Alabama popped out on a skateboard - right in front of her.
Countess was stuck under the car until a neighbor was able to use a jack to prop it up, and free him.
The incident remains under investigation, but Deveau is not facing any charges.
Countess was not wearing a helmet.
Maryville authorities say the child was taken to UT Medical Center with a head injury, but they don't believe it's life-threatening.
