Lanes reopen after crash closed I-40 West near Midway exit

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Westbound lanes are back open after a head-on collision on I-40 Westbound had all lanes closed for more than 2 hours Sunday morning.

Knoxville police say a white sedan traveling East crossed the median and hit a Ford Explorer head-on.

Five people were taken to the hospital including 2 children and one pregnant woman.

Police have not said if any of the injuries are fatal at this time, but all the people involved in the crash are believed to have suffered some type of serious injury.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - All lanes of I-40 West near the Midway exit are closed.

Emergency crews are on the scene of a crash that happened just after 10:00am that involves at least 2 cars, possibly three.

Dispatchers say they expect at least 4 serious injuries in this wreck after the cars caught fire.

Lifestar has also been called out to the scene near exit 402.
