A LOCAL 8 WEATHER ALERT is posted Monday - Wednesday due to significant rainfall amounts expected to accumulate. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch until Wednesday at 7am. We expect 2-4 inches of rain that could lead to some localized flooding in areas prone to flooding. This event will also create a slow commute to and from work Monday and Tuesday, and then again on Wednesday morning.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Homeless people who died in Nashville this year have been remembered at a memorial.
The Tennessean reported among those who gathered Sunday under the Jefferson Street Bridge was Charles Strobel, a retired Roman Catholic priest. Strobel founded the Room in the Inn program that offers shelter to homeless people. He said the city needs public policy that creates affordable housing.
At least three dozen homeless men and women died in Nashville this year. Organizers said some died under the bridge where the names of the dead were read on Sunday. It is a gathering place for people who have no homes.
