Obama announces re-election bid in web video

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is running for a second term.

The president's campaign announced Monday in a web video posted on his campaign website and in an e-mail to supporters that he will run again in 2012.

The announcement had been widely expected and White House officials said over the weekend that his campaign would file papers this week with the Federal Election Commission to launch his 2012 re-election effort.

He has already started fundraising.
