KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- A man's decision to answer his door, late last night, lead to a home invasion.
KPD says the victim received a knock on his door, at an apartment in the 4000 block of Heather Court, just before midnight.
The victim says the suspect asked for him for change. When he told the suspect he only had five dollars, the suspect then pulled a gun on him, forcing the victim back inside his own apartment. A second suspect searched the apartment, taking several things.
The two men then took off in a car with a third person.
A few minutes later, KPD says they spotted the vehicle on Sutherland Avenue, and when officers tried to stop it, the Maroon Nissan Sentra crashed into a tree.
All three people tried to run from the scene.
Police were able to catch up with one suspect quickly, while a second one was taken into custody a short time later.
KPD says the two suspects in custody are 19 year old Jamien Thames. He faces Facilitation to Commit Aggravated Robbery charges.
And police also say 18 year old Demorious Smith faces Aggravated Robbery and Felony Fleeing charges.
