Man killed in sleep by truck crash, woman charged

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- An eastern Tennessee woman has been charged with vehicular homicide after police say she lost control of a truck, which crashed through an apartment and killed a man sleeping inside.

Johnson City Police say 24-year-old Ashley Langworthy's 2000 Dodge Dakota went airborne at 3:40 a.m. Sunday, then came to rest inside 71-year-old Glenn Edward Smith's apartment. Police say Smith was asleep in his bed and pinned by the truck and debris.

Langworthy was taken to the Johnson City medical Center for minor injuries, then taken into custody. She's charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication. Langworthy was booked into the Washington County Detention Center. Bond was set at $100,000.
