Driver ejected, killed in Blount County crash

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Maryville man died in an early morning wreck on Montvale Rd. on Thursday, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol reports. Lewis C. Kirby was killed when his flatbed pickup ran off the road, swerved across traffic and hit a tree.

According to TBI, Kirby was heading north on Montvale Rd. around 3:30 a.m. when his truck went off the side of the road near the intersection of McSpadden Road, south of Maryville.

The 56 year-old was partially ejected from the Chevrolet truck, which then over-corrected and went across the road, striking a tree. At that point, Kirby was flung from the truck, which continued until it hit another tree.
