Pigeon Forge (WVLT) -- Jeff Hammond is a regular on FOX's NASCAR television coverage. He just might become a regular here in East Tennessee.
Hammond has partnered up with Darrell Waltrip to bring racing enthusiasts the "Darrell Waltrip Racing Experience." The attraction is part of Pigeon Forge's Belle Island Village--which is scheduled to open this fall.
The Darrell Waltrip Racing Experience is a $5 million, 27,000 square foot attraction that will put the visitor in the driver's seat with diverse and highly interactive components to showcase the racing experience from all vantage points of today's motor speedway.
Visitors to the "Experience" will find a variety of racecar simulators integrating virtual reality, a mini-Bristol Motor Speedway replica, as well as an "infield experience."
Waltrip and Hammond currently work together as part of the Fox on NASCAR team. Before their television gigs, they spent time together on the same race team. Waltrip has 3 Winston Cup championships to his name, Hammond was his crew chief for two of them.
