Kenny Schrader One of the First Entries Filed for Circle K Colossal 100 at LMS

CONCORD, N.C. (Feb. 6, 2009, LMS) - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series veteran Kenny Schrader is one of the first competitors entered in the fourth annual Circle K Colossal 100 at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway March 27-28.

Schrader began his racing career at local dirt tracks near his hometown of Fenton, Mo., prior to spending 25 years in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. During his stint in NASCAR's premiere series, Schrader has totaled 732 starts, accumulating four wins, 64 top fives and 184 top-10 finishes. He currently drives for his self-owned team, Ken Schrader Racing, and runs in a variety of racing series across the country, often competing more than 100 nights a year.

Despite finding success at every level of racing he's attempted, Schrader has yet to visit Victory Lane at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway. He will attempt to change that winless streak next month in his first attempt at the $50,000-to-win Circle K Colossal 100.

"When Lowe's Motor Speedway puts up a purse like they do for the Colossal, you know it's going to bring out the best drivers on dirt," said Schrader. "The Colossal has become so big that all of the other sanctioning bodies in dirt racing stay off that date. That's pretty neat to be a part of such a big show and as a competitor and a fan, it gets you excited about the race."

In an interesting twist, Schrader actually tied with Mooresville, N.C., native Larry Blankenship as the first to submit the official entry form for the Circle K Colossal 100. Traditionally, the first driver to file an entry is guaranteed a starting position in the $50,000-to-win World of Outlaws Late Model Series event.

Since both entries were received on the same day, Schrader and Blankenship will compete for the automatic starting spot on Friday, March 27. The driver with the fastest qualifying speed in that night's time trials session will be the recipient of the locked-in position for Saturday's main feature. Both drivers have years of experience at the wheel, and with a shot at $50,000 up for grabs, it's sure to be a battle.

Friday night's portion of the Circle K Colossal 100 features group time trials and heat races. The top-three finishers in each heat will secure a spot in the 100-lap finale and a draw will determine the starting lineup.

Saturday night's program begins with the Circle K driver autograph party and on-track action includes preliminary features and the main event.

The race is part of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, but The Dirt Track's traditional format, including the extremely popular Delaware-style restarts, will be utilized. For the first time in Circle K Colossal 100 history, cars that do not qualify for the main event through the B features can participate in the Charlotte 30, a 30-lap race that pays $2,000 to win.

If purchased in advance, reserved tickets for adults are $15 for Friday and $35 for Saturday, and children ages 12 and under are admitted for just $5 each night. Reserved tickets purchased in advance for both nights are just $39 for adults and $10 for children. Two-day pit passes are $60 in advance.

Tickets and pit passes for the March 27-28 Circle K Colossal 100 can be purchased online at www.lowesmotorspeedway.com or by calling 1-800-455-FANS.

The Tom Johnson Camping Center Racing Resort is located adjacent to The Dirt Track and full-service camping spots can be reserved by calling (704) 455-4445.
